What is it?
The angiomas are disorders that appear in the blood vessels and are especially located on the skin.
- Hemangiomas are benign tumours of vascular origin, i.e., they are blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries) that grow beyond what is normal. However, neither do they invade other tissues nor degenerate into malignant tumours. Inwardly, they are usually similar to messy tangles of veins. Vascular malformations, flat angiomas or port-wine-stains are enlarged and congested blood capillaries (not tumours).
- Angiomas often appear in childhood, it is very common among newborns. The term “angioma” encompasses two different types of vascular lesions: hemangiomas and vascular malformations.
The laser used for the treatment of hemangiomas is the Pulsed Dye laser.
